Welcome all and join with STC in one of our current games, Star Wars: The Old Republic. This is the first in a series where members of STC will hold organized events for games from STC's past, present, and possible future that are designed to encourage and facilitate our members in trying new games or revisiting old games. While these events will contain MMORPGs, there may also be months where we will focus on multi player computer games where you can play with or against (or maybe both) your fellow saints. While members who currently play the game are welcome and are encouraged to participate and assist the sponsoring member, these events are intended to focus on new and newly returned members to the game.
For this particular event, we will be focusing on the Imperial side. Future events may focus on the Republic side of the game, or be free for all.
What is Star Wars: The Old Republic?
SW:TOR (or TOR) is a Free to Play (FTP) Sci-fi/Fantasy MMORPG. It was released in 2011, and STC has been an active guild there since early access went live. Content continues to be released and the game has undergone some significant improvements since the initial launch. The current expansion is Rise of the Hutt Cartel. The next expansion, Galactic Starfighter, will feature space combat and is out Feb 4, 2013. For those that are current subscribers as of Nov 1, early access will begin Dec 3, and those of you who previously had subscriptions will have preferred early access on Jan 14. (from everything I see, this content upgrade is free) The current level cap is 55, so those who left at 50 before Rise of the Hutt Cartel should have a nice storyline to look forward to.
There are two major factions, The Empire and The Republic. Unfortunately, like many of today's MMOs, there is no communication between factions and you can not be guilded cross faction. That said, STC does have a guild with both factions, so no matter what, you can fly the STC tag. If you are looking for end game content, STC is currently raiding (running operations) on the Imperial side only.
Plans for game days. Leveling, Grouping, Crafting, Chating, and if there are enough people, maybe even a dungeon or two in the evenings. If there is interest and enough people (with the right mix of classes and high enough levels), we may even run an operation. There may even be a full guild meeting featuring an address by the Grand Preceptor (or his designate) where he will share his vision of the guild going forward and you listen to your concerns regarding STC.
So, come one, come all back to a time Long Long ago, in a Galaxy Far Far Away, Saturdays in November and December.
