re: WOW Chapter Meeting Notes - September 3, 2020

0

Welcome to the September WOW meeting!!

I greatly appreciate that all of you are taking time to attend this meeting.  Another month has elapsed with more and more hype coming for Shadowlands as can be seen by the Shadowlands-Hype-Train Discord channel.  If you do not mind being spoiled, there are a great many links to incoming changes to classes and plenty of videos on the new dungeons and expansion features. I hope you all are getting excited for Shadowlands.

There is only one more meeting before the release on October 26 at 7 pm EST (4 pm PST).  The Officers, especially the BC's have been preparing behind the scenes.  The Officer team has grown from the beginning of BFA and now we are looking to improve upon existing rules and documentation that has not been updated in some time.  The great thing is that we have many new faces, either completely new to some of us or old faces returning to play with STC.  We have one of our largest contingent of players and preparation for a new expansion includes making sure everyone is settled in and that we get to know one another in order to keep the "family atmosphere" that helps make STC an enjoyable place to play.  Please remember to say hi and if someone could use some help, if you can do it, great, but if you can not, then at lease respond that you are busy.  There are no expectations, but people do greatly appreciate a response.

Raiding:

In the past few month, we provided significant information on the how to get geared up for raiding.  Please head back to the website and look over that information, it's posted on the front page.

Currently the Raid Team is running the Gearing Raids, Wednesday nights, with skipping at least the first three bosses (Wrathion, Maut, Skitra) and if last night's raid lock remains we can also skip (Hivemind, Xa'nesh, and Shad'har) in order to dive deeper into the raid and attack bosses which have more upgrades for Mains and Geared Alts.  While some gear has been doled out, it appears that only the deeper bosses have those BiS items since most have filled out their gear on M+.  This is not necessarily a bad thing.  Last night's raid was very successful in getting down the harder bosses because even the Alts are well geared.  We have seen raiders who only recently joined raiding get better and better with more attempts at bosses.  Raiding can be overwhelming when one joins a raiding tier late.  The experienced raiders have been there and done that, and the newer raiders are running around trying to catch up.  Now, though, it seems the raiding team has more fully hit the stride.

There are still a few part time raiders/players who would like to join us for the N'zoth kill for the mount and achieve.  I would very much like to help those players if they have worked on their gear enough to participate.  N'zoth is still not a push over, but we have been killing him a lot easier each time.  If you are one of these people looking for the kill, please seek out a BC and get your gear including Heart of Azeroth and Cloak at least to minimum levels and research the fight.  We need you to work for the fight as much as those who have been killing Nzoth for months.

The BC team is busy preparing for Shadowlands by reviewing old documentation and updating to reflect STC's current raiding.  This is a great time to review the requirements and get STC's raiders on the same page prior to a new raiding Tier.  Remember that Blizzard has already announced the first raid of Shadowlands will drop 2 weeks after release.  As I stated in Discord, there may be some people ready to raid, but there is no expectation that everyone will be ready.  Do not feel the pressure to play in a way that is not enjoyable.  We will be raiding for a while and when you catch up, there will be help.  Remember this is a game and you should play the way you enjoy.
