re: WOW Chapter Meeting Notes - August 6, 2020

Welcome to the August WOW meeting!!

I greatly appreciate that all of you are taking time to attend this meeting.  Another month has elapsed with more and more hype coming for Shadowlands as can be seen by the Shadowlands-Hype-Train Discord channel.  If you do not mind being spoiled, there are a great many links to incoming changes to classes and plenty of videos on the new dungeons and expansion features.

I was not able to log on due to a power outage, but there was a server merge yesterday.  That may be something that brings new players to STC, although, we already have a great group of players with one of the largest raiding groups we have had in years.  It is a great thing to have so many active players for running content.  One thing, though, that I want to point out is to please pay attention to Guild Chat.  If someone asks for help or mentions an activity, please just acknowledge even if it is to say you are too busy at the moment or have to log.  This is an important way to keep everyone feeling part of the larger guild.  I know that sometimes chat, especially if you are in a Major City, can drown out Guild Chat, but being active is an important piece to keeping the atmosphere that we want to continue in guild.

Last month, we spoke specifically about guild structure and spent a significant time on raiding methodology and Lith prepared a Survey to get our members feedback.  The Officer team is always looking for ways to improve the experience for members.  You must understand also, though, that Officers dedicate a significant amount of both in-game and out-of-game time to improve STC.  We work hard to help everyone as best we can.

Survey Results

Lithanne discussed how he sent out the anonymous survey and 22 people responded.  Thank you to everyone who responded.  There is a high correlation between positive scores about STC and positivity around raiding.

Overall, players are happy, appreciate the officers’ efforts, want to split our raiding time between alts and N’zoth, and are really looking forward to Shadowlands.

Highlights:

The survey was noted as easier place to give feedback than traditional methods.  People would like it to be easier to give feedback and that the Officer team would be more accepting of the feedback.

Net promoter score - how likely to suggest STC as a guild.  The score was good and the majority responses were 3 or higher.

Most indicated that it was not difficult finding people to group with.  There were comments that some were looking for different types of activities -fishing Tourneys, Gnome Race...  If anyone is interested in running some kind of activity, the calendar is open for all to schedule provided there are no other guild events scheduled.

Raiding:

Last month, we provided significant information on the how to get geared up for raiding.  Please head back to the website and look over that information, it's posted on the front page.

Currently the Raid Team is running the Gearing Raids, Wednesday nights, with skipping the first three bosses (Wrathion, Maut, Skitra) in order to dive deeper into the raid and attack bosses which have more upgrades for Mains and Geared Alts.  Hivemind and Vexiona are both significant steps up for that raid team with Ra-den being generally an easier boss than Hivemind.  The BC's have done a tremendous job balancing Mains and Alts and putting the raid in the best position to succeed.  I greatly appreciate those who come on Mains to help the raid run a little smoother.  The BC's do have a lot of work trying to coordinate those players who want to bring a different Alt to each raid.  Having one consistent Alt makes it easier to plan who is going to be there for certain roles.  Adding others creates a tetris type of puzzle as well as can gimp the raid a bit on later bosses.  The goal of the Gearing Raid is to keep raiding interesting by allowing people to play an Alt rather than their Main because getting new gear is a way to keep it interesting.  Please just remember again the amount of work that goes into make sure each of these Gearing Raids are successful.

Tank rotation - Fuldarr

Hey all, in an effort to get us more organized before raid nights, we want to try a tank rotation. The raid leading team is asking for volunteers who have raid ready tanking toons hop on this rotation list so we can guarantee this role be filled before the raid starts. This will allow the BC's to just focus on making sure we have the correct amount of healers and DPS to fill the rest of the raid.

For example: Dwelk, Raegon, Mechafreeze, Purg are on this list

-Dwek and Raegon are the tanks for Wednesday night

-Sunday night, Mechafreeze and Purg are up, unless Dwelk and Raegon choose to tank themselves.

Again this is completely voluntary but if we have this rotation on paper, we can quickly get this part of organizing done.  The catch being, if you DO volunteer for this list, you are taking on a responsibility to ensure the raid teams greater success!

The Progression Team, Mains only unless requested by BC's, is ready to take down N'zoth for a third time.  We can now skip all the bosses except Carapace, and we intend to use this skip to kill N'zoth until the raid team feels they do not want to.  There are quite a bit of upgrades on N'zoth for our Mains.  If you are still looking to get the Ahead of the Curve (AOTC) achievement and mount from Heroic N'zoth, please talk to the BC's.  It will take a good amount of work for you to get the gear and N'zoth is not a walkover, but the BC's will do their best to help you.  As reminder -  Progression Content requirements: 450 ilvl, Rank 15 cloak, 85 Neck.

Thanks all. I like the tanking rotation plan, that seems like a good way to help prevent some burn out too.

Thanks to all the members who make this fun and thanks to the leaders who keep this ship on course.
