Welcome to the January WOW meeting!!

January is a special meeting month as we have our Annual March of Memories. We take this time to reflect on those that have passed on from this world. This is not limited to Saints and can be about someone important to you in real life. Please don't be shy and share your memories of loved ones with us as we march. At the end of the meeting, we will march from our location here in Stormwind to the Deeprun Tram and then to the gates of Iron Forge.

I want to take a moment to reflect on 2020 as well as look forward to 2021. For the first time in many years, STC has multiple raid teams. This is fantastic as it shows a strong contingent of players and a growing WOW Chapter. It brings with it some growing pains that our Officers continue to attack to provide the best opportunities to all raiders. We have quite a few newer members and with that comes some tremendous benefits of more people for grouping but also some items that we need to address like when you jump in an already formed group in Discord, it's best to announce or make sure the group is not in the middle of a fight that takes tremendous concentration. There could be a private discussion that just started amongst the group. So please be cognizant of these things and just respectful.
The new expansion is so busy at the moment that I am having a hard time figuring out how to get into groups with all of you. I know the Officer team is working hard to listen to feedback as well as connect as well. I am ecstatic to see so many groups at one time in Discord and in-game. If any of you have any suggestions on improving either in-game or Discord, we would like to hear from you. The Officers received a suggestion to have WOW Officers stand out on the side of Discord so that people can tell which Officers are on. The Officers are working through the setup logistics but if it is something that more people would like us to implement, please speak up. Along with this, as noted previously, we clarified the roles of Officers in game vs. Chapter Advisors. If there are still some questions, please let us know. Coming into a new guild with a different setup, there are going to be questions. Some of STC's setup is from long ago, but we are certainly open to new ideas on how to improve.

Great Scavenger Hunt (Meesha):
The Hunt goes on until Mid January and that several members are contributing. Meesha typically collects from her mail box on Thursdays. The spreadsheets are typically updated on Thursday night. First place is currently Hantzu. Please see the spreadsheet to follow the current winners and where you stand. There will be rewards at the end.

Award Nominations:
Bastet
Bastet has been awarded the Valor Award. The Valor Award is awarded for those that distinguish themselves in combat. These are the people that lead by example, being flexible and adjusting to the situation as necessary (switching to an offspec or character), by stepping up in times of need.
Bastet has filled in admirably as a back-up tank when asked in a pinch. With going from one raid to two, a backup tank is always needed and she stepped up in STC's time of need. Thank you very much, Bastet, for your contributions.

Raiding:
The raid teams are doing fantastic - last night in one raid, both teams downed seven bosses! The 8th boss is going to be a bit problematic as he has one mechanic that is unforgiving, especially for melee players. This is one fight that until we can overpower with two deaths initially, we may need to sit people through. It is hard for me to say that and there really is no other boss including Sire currently that appears to have this potential. The DPS requirements and timers are so tight that we cannot afford to lose people early on in the fight. If you are sat for this fight, you will be invited back promptly for the next two bosses once the boss is killed. My hope is that this condition does not last long, but it presents a real road block for the raid team. As always, the goal is to down all the bosses on Normal and get everyone gear as we prepare for Heroic. Heroic is a big step up with the mechanics far more unforgiving than Normal even for the first boss, Shriekwing.
