re: Limiting the Number of Novices

0
Over the recent months Sanctus Covenir has experienced incredible growth. Month after month we have experienced a record number of novices. We have gained many wonderful new members; however, we have heard concerns that our fast growth has decreased the "family feel" of the guild. While we are very proud that STC has gained such notoriety and that so many people are interested in joining our ranks, with anywhere from 15 to 30 novices at a time it has been difficult for the existing members to find the time to chat with all our new novices and get to know them. The WoW officers feel that this is a disservice to both the novices and the existing guild members.

In an attempt to decrease the growing pains, the officers have decided to put a limit on the number of active novices the guild will accept at any one time.
The goal of this limit is not to turn away members who are sincerely interested in becoming a member of Sanctus Covenir. Individuals who apply to the guild after we have reached our novice limit will be placed on a waiting list. Applicants will be moved off the waiting list in the order which they applied to the guild. To follow STC's long tradition of a family guild, exceptions will made for applicants who already have a family member in the guild and for returning guild members. These individuals will be made novices immediately, even if the novice limit has already been exceeded. If you have a family member who is applying to the guild please be sure that they state that they already have a family member in the guild and who that individual is, otherwise they could be placed on the waiting list with non-family members.

The novice limit will initially be a total of ten active novices at one time. However, this is a flexible number to be decided upon by the LoS and LP based on our initial experiences with the new policy and other guild conditions at the time. If we find that this number is too high to achieve the goal of restoring the "family feel" or low to deal with all the application requests we receive, the novice limit number may be adjusted at any time. The LoS may make additional exceptions to the rule, as approved by the LP, if the LP feels that the exception is in the best interest of the guild.

We hope that this new policy better serves Sanctus Covenir. If you have any questions regarding the policy please contact me or Gerhart. As this is a new policy designed to improve Sanctus Covenir, your observations on it's success or shortcomings via PM are encouraged.
