re: WOW Chapter Meeting Notes - Oct 2018

0

Welcome to the October WOW meeting.  As the weather starts to turn a bit colder, we're seeing more and more people on consistently.  It's great to see so many people asking for a Mythic or Mythic+ group, congratulating on achievements, or just sharing in some silly banter in guild chat.  We just concluded the Fishing Tournament and it was a resounding success.  We had some significant contributions and unfortunately, some people won't be fishing for a long, long time.  Thank you to all that participated.  I will be giving away Gold and pets at the conclusion of the meeting.  Also of note, Taralom has offered a mount for the second place finisher - Blinq.  This is awesome!  The guild, specifically the raid team, got a big boost to raiding materials for feasts.  We rely on members to assist in providing materials and the Fishing Tournament is a fun way to have a competition, give out prizes, and boost the team spirit.  Thank you to Jethaya for organizing and keeping the posts updated. As a note, if you want to contribute to flasks or find yourself with additional mats, please do put them in the guild bank.  For the most part, though, keep the mats to current content as Queue did a wonderful job clearing out some very old mats.

On a bit of a serious note, please keep discussions which may be contentious like politics and religion out of guild chat.  I don't want to censor anyone, but often these discussions can become aggressive and hurtful even when not intended.  Please if you want to discuss, find a private chat channel.  We come from many different backgrounds and beliefs and it's easy to offend someone without realizing.  By avoiding these discussions in Guild Chat and general chat channels in Discord, it helps to prevent drama.

Raiding:

The raid team has completed 6 of the 8 bosses in Uldir.  The raid team is working on Mythrax who is reportedly the hardest boss in the Uldir Raid.  You can tell that the raiders have picked up gear improvements as well as adjusted to some of the harder fights.  As noted in the opening, the Mythic+ as well as reputation gear can help with upgrades.  As noted in last night's raid, the BC team is throwing around working on the first several Heroic bosses.  This will require that people review the fights as Heroic often has additional mechanics.  Some are trivial, but others are significant.  Please watch the fights and come ready to take on the first three heroic bosses in the upcoming weeks.  Also, we may be able to skip the first three bosses on Normal if we do succeed in Heroic.  This will give more time to work on the harder bosses that can drop gear.  What we want to do is focus on upgrading gear through choosing the fights we can put on farm.  We'll continue to push ourselves to complete Uldir on Normal, and maybe a few pieces of gear from Heroic will help push us to that.

If we find Heroic level bosses are too hard, we may need to up the item level requirements for Heroic boss runs.  We don't like to leave anyone off, but we also want to make sure that we put the raid team in the best position to succeed.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or another Officer for information.

High Council Discussion:

Q provided information on the Grand Preceptor and High Council's role within STC and the WOW Chapter.

Much of the below information is presented here:  STC High Council Charter

The Grand Preceptor is the final authority in all guild matters.  The Grand Preceptor is determined by nomination and vote through the High Council.  The Lord Preceptor is determined similarly, although, the members of the game is sometimes asked for their opinion and even a vote may occur.  The leadership team is here to provide the structure and support for the members.

High Councilors are the conscience of STC, and as such represent an advisory panel to both the Grand Preceptor and each game Lord/Lady Preceptor.   As such, they act as advisors and hold no hold formal in-game responsibilities unless deemed by the in-game leadership. Each High Councilor serves at the discretion of the High Council as a whole, with each game Lord/Lady Preceptor holding a seat on the High Council by virtue of their in-game position.  If a new Lord/Lady Preceptor is an existing High Council member, the Lord/Lady Preceptor will automatically relinquish their existing position on the High Council.  If this occurs, the seat may be filled via the normal process for nominating and confirming High Council members.  If a Lord/Lady Preceptor steps down from being Lord/Lady Preceptor, they also relinquish their position on the High Council.  All High Councilors have an equal vote.  Each High Councilor is an officer of the guild, and is expected to support the in-game officer team by demonstrating the attributes that we seek in our membership. Those who serve on the High Council do so because they have shown through long service to the guild, and to her members, that they care about STC, its ideals, and its state of being.  High Councilors make themselves available to members who believe their concerns are not being addressed by the in game leadership.

I, Gerhart, provided additional clarification of the HC members role within the WOW Chapter.  The HC members in the WOW Chapter have no formal Officer responsibilities, but I have chosen to give the HC members a way to correspond in Officer Chat as well as invite Alts of players and give out additional items from the Guild Bank.  This was decided since there is a small Officer Team technically consisting of Gerhart as LP, Q filling the role of Senior Chancellor (second in command), Gerhart as SBC, Jethaya as Lord of Saints, Dzy as Matron of Saints, and SJ, Quwalin, and Cheidierey as Officers.  STC is always in need of people who would like to contribute to maintaining the guild.
