HC Meeting Notes for 10/18/14 Meeting and Guild Updates

Attendance: Casey, Gerhart, Thal/Stone, Happeria, Delph, and Droktavious

Before I start the meeting notes, for those that really do not know the what the HC (High Council) is, we do have a post that explains the STC High Council Charter.  In short, the HC is the group that assists the Grand Preceptor (GP) and Lord Preceptors (LP) of each game in applying the Codes and Laws in different games.  The HC also helps to interpret original rules and modify them to apply to a new gaming atmosphere.  Generally, when Chapters are running smoothly, the HC may not do or discuss much.

Please take a moment to read through the Section Link - STC's Codes and Laws.  These are what govern STC and what the HC applies to the games.

Meeting Notes

HC Members

If you have read the HC Charter, you will note that HC needs members who are active not only in a game but on the HC Forum.  The HC has not been as active lately with WOW going well and no issues which needed immediate attention.  It has recently come to the attention of the GP that there may be some HC members who are not as active as needed to fill a seat.  There was a discussion of who can remain active and with whom we replace.  There is a process by which we nominate members of the STC guild and then discuss their ability to serve on the HC.

Two members are needed to be replaced based on the discussion.  Kindrik resigned since he could not be active.  Zetan also has been inactive and the GP and HC felt he needed to be replaced.

The GP and HC will go through the nomination and discussion process and will announce HC members at a future time.

The Old Republic (TOR)

A little history on this Chapter:  The game came out and there was an Officer team in place and ready to lead STC into a new game. Please read the Chapter Sanctioning Requirements for further information on how a Chapter is started.  Unfortunately, the game did not have the content after the leveling process and initial dungeons to keep the large contingent of Saints active.  This is disappointing but new games do struggle (for example, see Rift).  The HC and GP were discussing the ability of the TOR Chapter to remain a Sanctioned Chapter or move to Minor Chapter status.  Droktavious (LP TOR) happened to be on (he was not initially at the meeting) and provided a much needed update on the status of the Chapter.  With the update, the HC decided to try and help Drok in any way, to promote the Chapter further.  It was noted to Drok to provide additional information via the Forums on how to get guild invites, the status of the Chapter, and a new Expansion in December.  Please go to the forums to view these new updates.

Guild Meeting

The HC discussed the thought of holding a Guild Meeting within the next couple of weeks to provide an update to all Saints.  At this time, we have decided to hold off until the HC is able to meet with the TOR Chapter for question and answers and to also provide them assistance in accessing guild tools such as the website and Mumble.  The WOW Chapter has a meeting every month and Happeria (LP) can include some of the Guild information and updates at the meeting.  The intent is to have a Guild meeting to gather all Saints together at least once a year.  This is something we strive for and hope that all members will attend when it is held.

Mumble

The first issue that has come to light with Mumble is that there has been some language which is not appropriate for our family friendly atmosphere.  We understand slip-ups but do not condone the use of language that is not rated G since there are children and parents of those children participating.  The same rules are applied to Guild Chat in game.  Please be careful about what you say and how you say it.

There was also some discussion of a reorganization of the Mumble channels.  The Ale House has a long history of being a place where some people used it differently than others, and it has had some issues.  In this case, the HC thought a reorganization of channels would try and make Mumble a little more family friendly and group oriented.  Lady Happeria has been tasked with coming up with a modified list of channels for the HC to discuss and vote on.  The change will likely be made by early November.

New Games - New Chapters

The HC is always on the lookout for new games that STC can participate in and grow a Chapter in.  We want to serve our Saints by keeping current with gaming.  If there are any potential games out there, please feel free to contact a HC member for a suggestion. You can also make a post in the Arcade sub-forum, under the general discussion forum in the herald section.

HC Updates, Meetings

There was a short discussion of the updates that we should be providing via the website as well as Guild meetings.  The HC is discussing at least one guild meeting per year and quarterly meetings of the HC with updates via meeting notes (similar to this one). The HC is open to suggestions and comments about what members would like to see and hear.  Please contact any HC member.

Meeting Action Items:

  1. TOR meeting with HC members - Drok to coordinate with his members and update the HC
  2. Filling HC seats - Discussion of potential candidates to follow
  3. Re-organization of Mumble Channels and reminder of Family friendly language - Happeria
  4. Meeting notes to be presented on the website for the guild - Gerhart
  5. Updates on Minor Chapters - Thal, Bobbun

Sanctioned Chapters Update

The Old Republic (TOR)

Star Wars The Old Republic v3.0 is coming Dec. 9th for all people, with early access for pre-orders starting Dec. 2nd. You can pre-order up to Nov. 2nd and with a subscription get 12x XP boost for class quests. You can get to lvl 55 only doing your personal classes story! Come into a galaxy far far away and follow the story of Revan in the 3 new Tactical flash points.  Tactical flash points are 4-man instances which does not need any specific rolls, it can even be done with 4 DPS.

Come join us on our Guild Starship. Search for Sanctus Covenir from the Social Window and look for one of us for an invite. Then press U, select guild on the left and travel to the ship. We also have a Guild Stronghold in Nar Shaddaa.  Also, you can get your own Strongholds. There is one in Nar Shaddaa, Kass City, and Tatooine. You can see all the current decorations here that you can get one way or another.  http://dulfy.net/2014/07/27/swtor-galactic-stronghold-decorations-list/

There is a small contingent of Saints who enjoy playing together and if anyone is interested, please do log on.  It's important to note that TOR has gone Free to Play.

WOW

We are gearing up for the Warlords of Draenor expansion set to release on November 13th.  It will increase max player level from 90 to 100.  A special note is with the purchase of the expansion you get to "boost" a character to level 90.  This can be done from character creation or you can choose a character at level 60 or higher to also have your professions boosted to 600.   There are new character models as well as changes to talents/glyphs, available spells/abilities, and stats.  The pre-patch began on October 14th with a small introduction quest chain in Blasted Lands plus the opening of the revamped Upper Blackrock Spire (UBRS) instance.  Many Saints are grouping to run through UBRS to get upgrades (item level 615, for reference the legendary cloak is item level 600 plus 4 upgrade levels making it 616 total).  Zelsara (WOW Lady of Saints [LoS]) is actively recruiting new members in-game and Alaeria (WOW SBC [Senior Battle Chancellor]) is working with his team to establish a timeline for raiding.  If you are a Saint joining us from another chapter or returning to WoW, please seek out any officer in game or via PM on the website if you do not already have an invite to the guild.

Minor Chapter Updates

Diablo III

Thal is the guild leader, but everyone should be able to be invite to the guild.  If you can't please ask Thal to promote you to officer level.  There is no real organized gameplay, but we have people who have been on fairly recently.  To be invited, please post in the Diablo III forums and ask for an invitation or send Thal a PM.  We can work on getting a time together to both be online so you can receive an invitation.

Rift

Bobbun and Sam-adams are the most active members of Rift.  http://www.riftgame.com/en/nightmare-tide/collectors-editions/

The second expansion for Rift, "Nightmare Tide" will be released on October 22, 2014.  The game is free to play so to play the expansion you really don't have to spend any money.  In fact, all areas of the game are accessible and attainable without paying anything.  There are some benefits for having a monthly subscription (being a "patron") but that is not required.  You do not have to purchase on of the Collector Editions to jump in either.  The game does have a cash shop (and you can even sell credits that you buy to others) but it is not necessary to use it.  There are some items that are useful there but about 99+% of it can be attained by free gameplay.

The guild is now just a tiny bit over halfway through level 14.  Bobbun is soloing quests but would appreciate any help and company when doing the quests.  He spent the passive perk point on "Planar Knowledge", an ability which increases planar experience gains by 1% for all members.  Please note that it is possible to respec the guild at some point if it turns out points aren't well spent in the opinion of future membership.  This could actually be relevant at present if we have an active group of players that want something different.  Many of the perk points were spent in the past with an eye to raiding, something not presently occurring in STC-Rift.

Post in the Rift subforum if you have an questions or want any additional information.

Ultima Online

From Itanar:  I still retain the original STC property on Atlantic, Felucca, a converted large tower which has been remodeled many times.  It is now the Alderglen Academy of Arts and Sciences and is an historic spot there with a special gate from Luna for people to visit.  I also retain access to the STC castle on Atlantic by Thalstan's good graces, plus a castle on Europa.  So, yes, there is still me there.  A lot of roleplayers and old friends have left for other gaming horizons, but I still keep a light on for anyone returning.  Email me at:  jmccain@scrtc.com and keep me informed.  I can meet you and fix you up with some good stuff.  Sadly, we do not have enough members to do anything big, but I can ask around and see what is going on.  I mostly did solo and roleplay stuff there anyway. Things have changed drastically, most for the better, I think, so it may be weird at first with the interface and all, but I will do what I can to help acclimatize you to it.  Keep me informed and posted if you want to give it a try.  This goes for anybody too. =)

Everquest

The current expansion is Call of the Forsaken, the next is the Darkened Sea, which is the 21st expansion for the EverQuest game.  The new expansion increases the level cap to 105 and will include more AAs.  This is supposed to be a tribute to the Buried Sea, which was an expansion back in 2007.  The launch date depends on if you are a subscriber. The expansion is scheduled for launch on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 (for All Access members) and Tuesday, November 11, 2014 (for Free-To-Play members).  It also includes a new "mount ring" similar to the WoW mount book and ToR mount database.  You no longer will need to carry your mount in inventory (huge for mount collectors).  Currently, it looks like they will only allow you to purchase Call of the Forsaken. It does not look like Darkened Sea will be available for purchase until at least October 28, 2014.

STC does not currently have control of the Sanctus Covenir guild tag, nor is there any way to get it back (it is bound to a former member's account and he no longer has access to that account).  If there is interest in playing under the STC tag, the High Council will work with the individuals involved to try and get an alternate name (possibly STC or Saints of the True Covenant) established.

Everquest II

There are some exciting changes that have occurred recently or are about to hit for EQII (and some impact all SOE games including EverQuest).  One of the big changes is that the old subscriptions to individual games have changed and it's now a subscription to all SOE games.  That means you can play all SOE games for as little as 9.99 a month if you sign up for a 1 year subscription.  This is the same price as a single SOE game used to be before this occurred.  All Access also continues to grant 500 Station Cash that you can save up.  Finally, they are now giving some bonuses to play.  More double XP weekends, double status weekends, double guild status weekends, bonus quested/crafted currency, etc.   This change is already in effect, so if you were thinking about re-upping, now might be the time.

Another big thing is that the new Altar of Malice expansion is coming out in November.  The new expansion will up the level cap to level 100, increase the number of prestige and tradeskill prestige AAs, 6 overland zones, 14 dungeons, and 6 raids.  There will also be a 2 week early launch for all access members. Early access for subscribers starts on 11/11/14 and Free-to-play users will be able to access the content on 11/25/14.  The expansion costs either 39.99 or 89.99 depending on which version (regular or collectors) you order.  Also EQ2 will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a special heroes festival set to begin in November, with 11-year veterans getting a special Isle of Refuge prestige home, complete with a starter population pack.

Right now, only Thal and Delph are playing, but there is always a surge during a new expansion and we may see a few more people.  Guild levels is still 67, but with the new expansion, that may go up quicker. Thal's toon still holds the guild leadership tag.  If you would a guild invite, please post in the EQII section of the forums.  A number of other HC members are also officers, so any of them can help you get invited as well.

To be Invited - Please post in the Everquest and Everquest II forums and ask please.  Most people who have a toon can invite, but you can ask me there and we can work on getting a time set up to meet online and get a guild invitation.
